Rehearsal Attire
Students should wear comfortable clothing that allows them to move freely.
- Leggings, athletic pants, or mid-thigh shorts
- Shirts that fully cover the waist while moving
- Hair secured away from the face
- Jazz shoes, ballet shoes, or clean tennis shoes only
Please avoid:
- Short shorts
- Hats
- Low-cut tops
- Flip-flops, Crocs, sandals, or outdoor boots
If purchasing new theatre shoes, black is recommended.
Theatre shoes are for indoor use only. Please bring them in a dance/theatre bag and change shoes upon arrival using the benches provided.
Script Booklets
Bring the SCRIPT BOOKLET labeled with the student’s name to every rehearsal.
If a student has a line or solo, it will be marked in their script by a teacher for practice at home.
Rehearsal Music
Music will be available on your class webpage (or emailed directly to parents).
Please encourage your child to listen regularly at home. Students who become familiar with the music early gain confidence and enjoy rehearsals even more!
Drop-off & Pick-up at FPMT Studios
Drive slowly through the North 101 Business Park. Safety is our priority!
Traffic Flow
- Enter the parking lot and immediately turn right to follow the counter-clockwise traffic pattern.
- Pull up to the entrance with the driver’s side closest to the building.
Drop-off
- Use the entrance shared with Quilted Treasures (look for the orange cones).
- Students will be greeted by staff members or trained Teaching Assistants.
- Please do not park or idle in the carpool lane.
- If you prefer, you may park and walk your child to the same entrance.
Pick-up
- Pick up your child using the same entrance as drop-off.
- Students will wait safely inside the orange cone area until they see their vehicle.
- Students may not walk to parked cars alone. They must be picked up in the carpool lane or accompanied by a parent.
- Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes after class ends to avoid blocking neighboring businesses.
- Pickup typically takes about 8 minutes—we have a great system!
Please stay off your phone while in the carpool line. Staying alert helps us keep every child safe.
Arrival Time
Please arrive a few minutes early so students have time to change shoes and stretch before class begins.
To avoid disrupting other rehearsals, please do not arrive more than 15 minutes before class.
Parent Visitation
To help students build independence and stay focused, classes are drop-off and pick-up only.
Our studios have limited seating, so parents do not remain in class during rehearsals.
If you would like to observe a class, we’d be happy to arrange a visit.
Please email Frontporchmusicaltheatre@gmail.com to schedule. Observation visits are limited to two parents at a time so we can minimize distractions for our students.
If you have a younger sibling waiting during class, please check with Mrs. Linda about available waiting options.
There are several nearby coffee shops and stores if you’d like to relax or run errands while your child is in rehearsal.
Illness & Absences
Please email frontporchmusicaltheatre@gmail.com before class if your child will be absent.
To help keep everyone healthy, please keep your child home if they have:
- Fever
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
Please also make sure your contact information is up to date so we can reach you if needed during rehearsal.
Winter Weather Policy
FPMT rarely cancels classes due to cold temperatures.
Please use your best judgment when traveling.
If weather requires us to cancel rehearsal, notice will be posted on the homepage of our website at least one hour before class begins.
FPMT T-Shirts
Show your theatre pride with an official Front Porch t-shirt or hoodie!
Order windows are offered periodically throughout the year. Watch your email for ordering information.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to read through these procedures. Your partnership helps create a fun, safe, and successful experience for every performer.
We can’t wait to see your child grow in confidence, creativity, and friendship this semester.
Now… on with the show!
Student & Parent Contract
Students and Parents: Please read through carefully and completely. Student and Parent must print, sign and turn in this contract each semester. Signed contracts need to be turned in at AUDITIONS.
Although being a member of a cast is fun and exciting, it also requires commitment, time, and responsibility. The time and commitment not only affects the cast member, but also their family. We feel it is important for all parties involved to be aware of what is expected right from the start. Please read the following contract with your child and sign the form if you agree to your cast member’s participation in the production under these conditions.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at info@fpmtheatre.com.
CAST RESPONSIBILITIES
FPMT is a theatre school and therefore, you will not only learn to be a better actor while performing for an audience, but you will also participate in the production process. Listed below are the responsibilities expected of you as a member of the FPMT’s production.
Read through the following important procedures.
- Trust the directors through the audition and casting process. Accept the role given to you, understanding that every student is vital to the success of the show. A tremendous amount of work goes into auditions and casting, and it is very difficult to redo this entire process if someone drops if they don’t get their top choice of a role they auditioned for.
- Treat all staff and fellow actors with respect and kindness.
- Pay attention to all announcements given in rehearsals.
- Attend all required rehearsals.
- Please give advance notice (at least three days) for a missed rehearsal by notifying us at info@fpmtheatre.com. In the event of an illness or emergency, notify Mrs. Linda by phone (763) 260-4053 or email as soon as possible.
- Commit to NO ABSENCES the last month of rehearsals and also all stage dates.
- Be prepared, ready, and focused for each rehearsal. Arrive 15 minutes (not more than 20 minutes) prior to rehearsal start time to socialize, stretch and get ready to rehearse. Bring your script and pencil to every rehearsal.
- Have lines, songs and blocking memorized on time.
- Dress appropriately at all rehearsals. Refer to “Showtime Class Procedures…” then “What should my student wear….”
- Respect the properties where we rehearse and perform.
- Do not leave the building before the end of rehearsal unless approved by a FPMT staff person first.
- At rehearsal end, exit through the designated door and wait in the assigned area for your ride. For your safety, do not walk into the parking lot unless you are the driver or with a parent. Please pay attention.
- Showtime Students: Drivers–no texting or talking on cell phones while driving in the parking lot.
- Cell phones should be silenced and put away with your belongings during rehearsals.
- Showtime students: Attend at least one tech session to help with set construction, set painting, props, costumes, etc.
- Showtime students: Attend set strike following the last performance unless excused by directors.
- Provide costume/costume pieces if necessary.
We understand that being a FPMT actor is a commitment, and that I/my student need to abide by all the standard and protocols set forth by the FPMT staff. We are willing to do our best in this endeavor.
We also realize the possible risks involved in having students in active, group classes and have given permission to enroll our student at our own risk.
